In particular, the initiative to support the transition from coal to solar energy will be implemented, and coal consumption will be reduced by implementing renewable energy-based heating solutions for households in the neighbourhood. In the first phase, up to 100 households in Chingeltei District will be introduced to solar energy-based heating solutions, and in the long term, we aim to reduce air pollution, create green jobs, and create a healthy living environment for the citizens of Ulaanbaatar.

Also, within the framework of cooperation, attention will be paid to the development of the national system and regulation of the carbon market, which is an important incentive for citizens as well as organizations to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

Chingeltei District Governor N. Manduul emphasized the positive possibilities of the initiative and said, "Cooperation with the UNCC is an important event in solving one of the pressing problems of Ulaanbaatar, which is air pollution in residential areas. This partnership brings practical solutions to households in Chingeltei District, reducing pollution and creating clean energy options that benefit the environment and our residents.” mentioned that.


Matilda Dimowska, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program, said that this cooperation is in line with the recommendations of the "National Human Development Document" compiled by the United Nations Development Program on Equitable and Accessible Energy Transition. Pointed out. He also said, "This cooperation is a real step to support an equal and accessible energy transition in Ulaanbaatar and Mongolia as a whole. By introducing solar energy solutions to households in Chingeltei district, we have reduced air pollution. Not only that, it is possible to create a more equal and accessible future for everyone."


As part of the cooperation, UNDP will provide technical expertise and training, while the district administration will provide funding, identify households and locations for the project, and be responsible for system maintenance.

This cooperation is an important step towards a clean and green future not only in the Chingeltei district but also in Ulaanbaatar city as a whole.
